The Thai government has announced that it is to send a spacecraft to the moon within 8 years in a project that will be delivered within a budget of ฿3 billion.
The Minster outlined a plan to develop advanced satellites in the 50 kg to 100 kg range within five years. The spacecraft to enter into lunar orbit will take three more years.
The country plans to use a xenon ion thruster rocket used by NASA and a 300 kg spacecraft.
Thailand aims to diversify its economy and pivot away from tourism, hoping the space industry will boost a high-income economy.
