Two private investors, Larry Connor and Mark Pathy paid $55M each to will fly on Axiom Space AX-1 mission, joining the commander of the flight Michael López-Alegría (former NASA astronaut) and Eytan Stibbe (former Israeli fighter pilot). Connor will be the first-ever private spaceflight pilot in the first-ever mission of non-professional astronauts.
SpaceX will launch the private crew no earlier than January 2022 for an eight-day stay on the ISS.
In this mission, Connor will be collaborating with the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic; Pathy with the Canadian Space Agency and the Montreal Children’s Hospital; and Stibbe will be working on behalf of the Ramon Foundation and Israeli Space Agency.
